Series of the Miracles:
Feeding Stories l 28-Feb-2010
(Duration: 17:25 | size: 11MB)

Preacher : Rev. Dr. John Illsley
Bible Reading : Mark 8: 1-21

Today, as we look at Jesus’ miracles, we turn to the stories of miraculous feedings. We read in Mark chapter 6 of 5000 being fed with just five loaves and two fish; we read in Mark chapter 8 of 4000 being fed with seven loaves and “a few small fish.” These stories were obviously very important for the early church – apart from the stories of Jesus death the feeding of the 5000 is the only story mentioned in all four gospels.

The stories ought to remind us of how God fed the Israelites in the wilderness as they escaped from slavery in Egypt. The stories ought to remind us that God does care for us and knows what we need.

Series of the Miracles:
A Sign – but to what? l 21-Feb-2010
(Duration: 23:19 | size: 14.9MB)

Preacher : Rev. Dr. John Illsley
Bible Reading : John 2: 1 - 12

In our Bibles we have four gospels, four accounts of the life and times of Jesus written from four different view points. When Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John sat down to write their gospels they had to make decisions about what to include and what to miss out – the material was too great to include everything. John includes in his story seven miracles, the first of which is the turning water into wine at a wedding. But John does not call these miracles but signs. They point to something beyond just the story. Today we will explore what this miracle does point to, what it is a sign to.

Series of the Miracles:
Salvation l 07-Feb-2010
(Duration: 20:27 | size: 13.7MB)

Preacher : Rev. Dr. John Illsley
Bible Reading : Luke 8: 26-39

What do the miracle stories tell us?
1. That God is a miracle-working God. Whenever you ask the question “Who is God?” part of that answer is that he is a God who does things, changes lives.
2. Miracles show God is active and alive in and with his people. When we pray, we seek a miracle.
3. Miracles show something of the people who receive them. We are a delivered people, a saved people, a loved and valued people and not just a healed people.
