Listen to God l 27-June-2010
(Duration: 25:36 |
size: 16.2MB)
Preacher : Rev. Dr. John Illsley
Bible Reading : John 10: 7 – 10; 22 - 30
Last week at our Healing Course we made what, for me was a surprising discovery – Jesus never prays for healing for anyone. But he does heal many people and even raises the dead. What he seems to do is to know God’s will for a person or a situation, and then speaks into God’s plan. We will explore this today in our worship. What it means is that above all we need to be able to hear what God is saying, and then to follow that way in obedience, trust and faith. Jesus uses the picture of a shepherd and his sheep; each sheep knew the voice of their shepherd and trusted that shepherd with their lives; they followed unquestioningly.
Cleared for Prayer l 20-June-2010
(Duration: 21:26 |
size: 13.6MB)
Preacher : Rev. Dr. John Illsley
Bible Reading : Matthew 6: 1 - 15
As we continue to think about healing, we look to prayer. Prayer is communication with God. Prayer is how we align ourselves with God’s will for healing. Last week we looked at the need for effective prayer and discovered that we need both faith and righteousness. This week we turn to Jesus’ teaching about prayer. Jesus says, “When you pray…” He assumed that we would all pray. As we look to Jesus we will look at the 3M’s of prayer – motive, methods, and manner.
Models of Ministry l 13-June-2010
(Duration: 27:40 |
size: 17.6MB)
Preacher : Rev. Dr. John Illsley
Bible Reading : James 5: 13 - 18
We turn to a passage from James, the brother of Jesus, that is well-know by many. James is an immensely practical book – the “how to” of Christianity. Today is about prayer. Probably all of us wish our prayer life was better, and certainly in the church we need to learn to pray better. But how do we measure prayer life? Is it by frequency or is it by length? And what are the requirements for prayer, what must we do to get prayer answered? And what responsibility have we got for others? These and many others questions will be answered today!
Dynamic Cycle l 06-June-2010
(Duration: 23:02 |
size: 14.7MB)
Preacher : Rev. Dr. John Illsley
Bible Reading : John 17 : 1 - 19
Every Monday evening we are having a course on Healing. Over the next few weeks we will be picking up some of that teaching in our Sunday services. Today at the 9.30am Worship Service, we will look at what is described as a Dynamic Cycle. We will look at Jesus, the man, as a model for coping, surviving and succeeding through life’s challenges. As we follow a process of growth that Jesus did in his relationship with God, our daily lives will be strengthened and we will have Christ’s victory in our lives.
